RIP Roger.

Now that Roger is gone, I feel like there is no one left to carry the mantle.

Even though Gene was always my favourite of the duo, after he died, I knew Roger would carry on his legacy.

Unfortunately, it was like we lost them both yesterday. Even in all of the media coverage I’ve seen, they can’t help but bring up Gene Siskel too.

Thank you for sharing your talents with the world Mr. Ebert.

Try these. They are the best critic sites I know of for new movies.

Roger Ebert was the greatest living popular critic, no question. His television shows going back to 1975 were trailblazing and will never be replaced. A class act, all the way.

But no one left to carry the mantle? Not quite. I can think several film critics/ film scholars worthy of that stature still writing today. People like Rosenbaum, Tony Rayns, Kent Jones, David Kehr, David Bordwell etc.

I felt like someone let all of the air out of me when I found out about the passing of Roger Ebert. He and Gene Siskel were and still are the best to ever do it. By it, I mean film criticism. I really miss these two.

It’s been a full week since the passing of Roger Ebert, and I still catch myself looking at his website to see if he’s written a review for what’s opening this weekend. It’s going to take a while to get used to the fact that he’s gone.

There have been some posthumously posted reviews on RogerEbert.com that Roger had written either a few weeks prior to his death, or have been retooled from blogs from various film festivals. The site’s still being updated with reviews of new movies from other critics, but it just isn’t the same.

how about you or gradepoint post both Doug Walker (Nostalgia Critic)’s Tribute to Siskel and Ebert and Farewell to Roger Ebert videos?

Roger praised Doug’s tribute to him and Gene and Doug’s farewell to him is worthy of praise too. maybe Richard’s tribute to Roger could go up too?

The tone of the anchorman says it all. So beloved was Roger that even President Obama publicly paid his respects to the man. Ebert transcended film criticism to become a trusted and respected in so so many other ways.
