Broken Arrow (1996): Excellent movie!
This episode: Great! I’ve never seen Gene Siskel twist his thumb like that before in my life!
Great episode. Love it! 9½/10.

I didn’t know Broken Arrow and Black Sheep were on the same show. Classic episode.

Gene Siskel twisting his thumb and changing his mind for "Broken Arrow" and walking out for "Black Sheep" was a classic! While "Tommy Boy" was a good comedy, "Black Sheep" was horrible.

BTW, "The Million Dollar Duck" came out in 1971. Plus, he forgot to mention "Manic". So that counts to 16 years, not 26! On the other hand, "Broken Arrow" was silly but awesome action film!

"Beautiful Girls" was another good movie with entire cast including Natalie Portman in a breakthrough role after "Leon: The Professional" and "Heat".

Wow i am shocked nobody has mentioned the really best film on this show. Antonia’s Line is wonderful film. I did enjoy the action picture Broken Arrow as well, and i have not seen Beautiful Girls, but i shall look for that one. Thanks firstmagnitude.

I think Ebert did this once about ten years later when Roeper convinced him to overturn a recommendation - I think it was In My Country.

What was Gene’s problem with Chris Farley? Black Sheep is a good comedy.

GENE: Do me one favor; look in the camera and say "I was wrong about cop and a 1/2, it wasn’t a very good movie. Burt Reynolds."

ROGER: "No, I won’t do that.

GENE: "WHAAAAAT????" *laughs in bewilderment*

Best part of this, classic moment. Gene was right on this one though, C&1/2 was awful.

Also Gene walked out of Maniac too but I guess he forgot ’bout that one. Classic epi!

Also "Black Sheep" is the first movie that Gene Siskel walked out on. I think "Batman & Robin" is the second, I’m not sure.

Gene didn’t walk out on Batman & Robin; he just mentioned many in the audience he was in walked out and that he "would’be been there with them"

They were dead on about Natalie Portman. I also loved Beautiful Girls and I didn’t mind Black Sheep and I kinda liked Broken Arrow, but Face/Off was a better American John Woo film.

Look under Siskel and Ebert worst of 1993.

I don’t think Gene would’ve changed his vote if he reviewed Broken Arrow with someone else who liked it. If he’d reviewed it with me, I would’ve said this in the end: "Two marginal thumbs up for Broken Arrow, the big budget thriller about terrorists who steal a nuclear bomb."

or if he still changed his opinion: "A marginal split vote on Broken Arrow, the big budget thriller about terrorists who steal a nuclear bomb. we each liked the visual effects and had a good time, but Gene just barely thought that it wasn’t good enough."

This might not be true, but I read that Gene also walked out on Shogun Assassin (1980) and Grave Desires.

Black Sheep was on cable the other weekend. It took me to become an adult to notice how awful that movie was, it quite literally is Chris Farley screaming and falling down ad nauseum for 90 minutes.

Watching it today, "Tommy Boy" is a great comedy, but "Black Sheep" is an ok movie, that can get annoying every once in a while. "Tommy Boy" is a comedy to watch over and over again, but "Black Sheep", watch it once every ten years. Who else agrees?
