Now, this is one of Gene Siskel’s final episodes, and after that, he went back to the hospital, and then he passed away in 1999.

I’m sure most Academy voters saw Gene’s pick for "Vampires" and then turned off the program. Not a single one of their recommendations were recognized.

"Not a single one", fuzzynavel? Ebert’s recommendation of Billy Bob Thornton was recognized. As was Siskel’s for Elizabeth’s Art Direction.
