Great, great episode. These movies are mainstays of the eighties.

Two of my favorite films (The NeverEnding Story and The Last Starfighter)on this show, yet they both split on them.

"Electric Dreams" looks awesome for a love story with computer technology, still not on DVD and Blu-ray yet in the US.

Wow, thank you for uploading this. A shame ELECTRIC DREAMS is not available on DVD/Blu-ray. It’s so nice to see episodes that aired before I was born.

A lot of good ones here. The birth of two major cult films. What a week!

Wow! Great to see this episode again, Firstmagnitude! Thank you!!

Two of my favorite ’80s films, The Last Starfighter and The NeverEnding Story, in one show! Robert Preston did a great job in the Last Starfighter even though he pretty much was just doing The Music Man (which I have seen before) in outer space!

Electric Dreams I haven’t seen in a long time even though I wasn’t too impressed with it when I first watched it. Probably just had a bad day when I watched it so I should look into watching it again. I think the music rights is one of the primary reasons why Electric Dreams isn’t on DVD or Blu-ray.

And now I know that neither Gene or Roger liked The Dark Crystal. I always wondered what they about that movie.

I’ve never seen Electric Dreams, but now I want to.

The Neverending Story is phenomenal.

The Last Starfighter is good.

I saw Electric Dreams on video a long time ago. It was a quaint little romance. Actually the most memorabel thing about it is a young Virginia Madsen. I always enjoy watching 80s computer movies (Tron, War Games).

I first saw "The Neverending Story" in 1999 when my granny got it for me on VHS for my 7th birthday. It’s about time to watch it again.

I’m very disapointed to learn that Gene thought that the Dark Crystal was a bad movie (I know Ebert gave it a mix review, since he only gave it 2.5 stars in his reviews, which is not on his website interestingtly enough).

Thankfully I can be happy of knowing that the Dark Crystal ended up making more money than the Neverending Story or the Last Starfighter (both of which I also enjoy).

Hey Firstmagntitude speaking of the Dark Crystal, have you found the episode with the Code of Silence review (The complete episode). It’s okay if you haven’t, I was just wondering.

Also the Breakfast Club episode (again it’s okay if you haven’t).

Just wondering.

Interestingly, if you search for ebert dark crystal on Google, they do have an actual newspaper archived that has Ebert’s Dark Crystal review. His conclusion was that it was too slow-paced and the monsters were too gruesome for children, but he admired the special effects and visuals.

I’d like to view "electric Dreams" someday. I’ve seen Virginia Madsen in some of her earlier work (Such as "Creator",which is a film in which is a has multiple love stories, and I like), and I heard this was her best. I know "Modern Girls" wasn’t great (I thought only Daphne Zuniga stood out in that film), but I don’t think that reflected badly on her

Gene admitted he was never a Sci Fi fan. I think he was even less of a Fantasy fan.

Although Siskel’s favorite film was 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Very little I could do with picture quality... tape is 28 years old!

The Neverending Story: Gene thought it was ugly and sloppily made while Roger thought...
