I hope someone has the original review to Dark City. That wasn’t even on the website.

watching some of the 98 to 99 season is hard because Gene was very sick. Makes me really sad

It seems that Roger is one of the few critics who still talks about Dark City. Alex Proyas has become creatively impotent since and that film isn’t really regarded as a classic by many. I like that Gene made it entirely clear that "Babe 2" was a personal decision and he probably didn’t care if the rest of the world agreed with him.

Absolutely delighted to see Babe: Pig in the City and Dark City hailed as ’98’s best. The Babe sequel is astonishing still... I saw it on Thanksgiving day way back in 98, and the theater was literally empty. To this day I have no idea why all the people who loved babe ignored the sequel.

Dark City is a film that took a long time to grow on me - recently I gave it yet another try, and for some reason it finally worked well for me (though Sutherland still drove me nuts with his Peter Lorre impression).

The best of the year shows fill me with delight and joy. I just find it so wonderful to see these guys in love with a film. I wish all of them were available. I printed all of their lists online and I am trying to see all of the movies on the lists.

They really sang Jim Carrey’s praises for The Truman Show (and with good reason too)! He probably SHOULD have been nominated for Best Actor!
