The Dead Pool is probably the second weakest Dirty Harry movie after The Enforcer IMO. The only things I really liked about it were the RC car chase, the Guns N’ Roses cameo at the funeral and Slash using the harpoon at the end, and the opening chinese restaurant scene ("You forgot your fortune cookie"), and I love both Midnight Run and Die Hard. Both are true classics.

And I love Gene’s line "I don’t know what that has to do with the movie, except that we now know what happened to Roger at fourteen." lol

The Phantasm movies are guilty pleasures of mine, and the second one’s probably my favorite one. Hilarious to see Roger get so fired up over it too, lol.

good episode, here’s what I think of those movies:

The Dead Pool - Great movie, I perfer this movie over "True Romance".
Phantasm II - Antoher great movie, both 1 and 2 are that great.
Midnight Run - Good, but not better than "Beverly Hills Cop".
Boyfriends and Girlfriends - Never Seen
Die Hard - A great Classic!

I have a great respect for Roger Ebert and I understand many of his viewpoints, but if there is any movie I strongly disagree with him about, it’s
Die Hard
. Bruce Willis brings a funny and smart human touch to a character that could have been a copy-and-paste action hero, while Alan Rickman creates a villain that is menacing and captivating to watch. And the action puts many more recent action films to shame.

The Dead Pool- Not the best Dirty Harry movie I seen, but it was still enjoyable. The car chase was suspenseful, yet fun.

Phantasm II- A very bad horror sequel to a very violent movie.

Midnight Run: De Nero and Grodin were a great pair in the movie. I enjoy the movie and the chases.

Boyfriends and Girlfriends: Never Seen.

Die Hard: One of the greatest action movie of all time. One of the best films of 1988.

I never could figure out how Roger could dismiss Die Hard b/c of the dumb captain (Paul Gleeson) then turn around and give Die Hard 2 ***1/2 stars and it has an even dumber captain (Dennis Franz). Inconsistency, Rog...

Gene and Roger nailed THE DEAD POOL, the best Dirty Harry movie after the original.

Mistaken on PHANTASM II, a good solid horror guilty pleasure.

Midnight Run, the best movie of that week, is a great film, not always appreciated. I’m glad that they both saw the merit in this off-beat gem.

I’m amazed that Gene was right and Roger wrong about DIE HARD. A slightly overrated, but awesome movie no the less. R.I.P Gene.

The Dead Pool-The best film in the dirty harry franchise.

Phantasm ||-It’s even more worst than Friday the 13th part 6.

Midnight run-I’m really enthusiastic about this film,Midnight run is the best movie of 1988 in my opinion.

Boyfriends and Girlfriends-Never seen it.

Die Hard-A great action film that has good performances and great special effects and I agree with Roger Ebert about the deputy chief,he is the worst police officer in any movie.

Roger’s review of Die Hard is all the more ridiculous considering he voted thumbs up for the 2nd and 3rd Die Hard movies. He really is nitpicking here, "the police chief is stupid," so that makes it a bad movie?

You can criticize the 2nd Phantasm but the original is one of the great horror classics.

Haha, Boyfriends and Girlfriends was one of my favourite reviews on the Beuna Vista site a few years ago.

I love when Gene says "well, I don’t know what that has to do with the movie, except that we know now what happened to Roger at 14..."

I’ll admit that I didn’t know about Dead Pool, and now because of that RC car chase, I’m intrigued to see it.

Obviously Die Hard is a classic. And that deputy chief cop is really only there to have you feel empathy for and root for Reginald Vel Johnson’s character. And the chief gets his in much the same way that Hans Gruber gets his, albeit in very different ways.

I don’t how the hell could anyone, ANYONE, enjoy The Dead Pool, the worst Dirty Harry film, and dislike Die Hard.

All of the Dirty Harry movies are good. "Sudden Impact" and "Magnum Force" are my personal favorites. "The Dead Pool" is the weakest of all of them. It’s still a good movie to watch. I loved the first "Die Hard" movie. It’s a great action film. Bruce Willis is wonderful.

Die Hard could be the greatest cop action movie ever produced.

Roger missed the point about the chief in Die Hard. He was a comic relief character. He was intended to be an annoying idiot, and to make John’s circumstances even more painful. As for Midnight Run, I really think it’s a fantastic and underrated movie. I think it’s one of the ten best movies of that year, and also one of my favorite movies.
